I actually found this old brass gauge while cleaning out the old shop space. She shined up nicely. The hook is put in the eye socket and run along the back of the lobster to see if it’s long enough to keep. In Maine, if the size is too small or too large then the lobster must be thrown back into the water. The average lobster size is between one and five pounds.
